This class is a part of our Smarter Eating series in which we go into detail about food that is related to certain diet lifestyles and make them fun and delicious. In this class, we will discuss the Low Glycemic lifestyle which involves swapping high-GI foods for low-GI alternatives. There are a number of potential health benefits, including reducing blood sugar levels, aiding weight loss and lowering your risks of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. We will also discuss ketosis which is a metabolic state in which fat provides most of the fuel for the body. It occurs when there is limited access to glucose (blood sugar), which is the preferred fuel source for many cells in the body. Ketosis is most often associated with ketogenic and very low-carb diets.

The secret to following any diet easily is understanding the proper cooking techniques that yield flavor to your dishes and what spices to keep around so you can make for the reduction in fat or carbs. Whether you are on a Paleo diet, low-carb, or just looking to lose your holiday extra pounds, getting yourself prepared is the secret to keeping your New Year's resolution! Everyone is broken up into groups of four or less depending on the class size. We're BYOB, but we have great wine and unique beers you can't find anywhere in Houston but us for sale!
